Tommaso - The Beautiful Planet - 22nd - 25th May 2011

Born in Italy, Tommaso attended the studio of the icon painter Dionisio Olivotto for five years
before moving to London in 1994. The Beautiful Planet set of artworks focuses on the two essential
components of our planet: the social and the physical environments.

The artworks that depict our social environment, the Abused Humanity series, draw attention to the
psychological and physical abuse experienced by women and children. These artworks depict resilient
women who bear the signs of the abuse suffered and yet carry on bravely with their personal and professional life.

The artworks that depict our physical environment, the Mother Earth series, focus on the breathtakingly simple
beauty of our planet. Nature is depicted without any reference to humans and to signs of their use, or rather abuse,
of the beautiful environment they inhabit. The goal here is to facilitate a silent and intense enjoyment of the healing
peace of unspoiled natural landscapes and, in so doing, to help the viewer connect with the inner soul of our planet.
